2006 taurus starts and have to keep foot on gas pedal to keep running take foot off ,quits check engine light on couldnt take to shop ,holidays replaced heater motor smelt like it was burning when fan on now engine light on

Have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. THey will point you in the right direction for the problem. As far as the idle, chances are you have a vacuum leak or the idle air control valve is bad.
