I have a 2006 Ford Ranger that is kinda stumping me on a plroblem. If I hit 3000 rpm in park it dies out and never has before. However when driving I can hit 5000 with out a problem. Any Ideas?

First, one of the worst things you can do is rev an unloaded engine that high. Second, it does have a rev limiter that may be shutting it down at 3 because it is not under a load.
