I was driving and my car started making a clicking sound it was constant but seemed to increase as I accelerated, When I pulled off I realized the car was out of oil on the dipstick, so I put two things of oil in it, when I turned it back on it still clicked the car moves and goes it just clicks loudly, so will it eventually lubricate itself after running awhile or is it done?

Well there's a knock and a click and a tap. So without being there to listen, it could be serious or minor. If it is serious it will probably get worse(louder).

If hitting the gas and letting off makes it change in loudness then it's likely serious. Although noises like a piston knock can be driven for yrs. Best to get it appraised maybe at auto pats store as they somtimes have older experienced auto people working there. Best to get more than 1 opinion.

MOST OWNERS MANUALS INSIST ON CHECKING YOUR OIL LEVEL AT MINIMUM, ONCE A WEEK. NOT FRED, DOWN AT THE SUPER LUBE, DOING IT ONE TIME, ONLY DURING AN OIL CHANGE

EVEN DURING THE COURSE OF A WEEKS TIME---EVIL THINGS COULD HAPPEN TO YOUR CAR---LIKE A ROCK DAMAGING YOUR OIL PAN--OR EVEN THE OIL PUMP STOPS WORKING SUDDENLY

THIS PROCEDURE IS A REALLY SCALED DOWN VERSION OF "WHY IS THE PILOT WALKING AROUND AND DOING ALL OF THOSE PESKY TIME CONSUMING CHECKS ON THE AIRPLANE?"--"SURELY THE AIRPLANE MECHANICS TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING. THIS IS GONNA MAKE ME BE LATE GETTING TO ATLANTA!"

IF THE GAUGE SHOWS LOW--OR THE IDIOT LIGHT BLINKS AND/ OR STAYS ON, YOU BEST SHUT IT OFF IMMEDIATELY. NOT AFTER YOU DRIVE IT JUST A LITTLE LONGER

IF YOU SEARCH "ROD KNOCK" ON YOU TUBE YOU WILL FIND VIDEOS RANGING FROM "TOASTED" TO "MAYBE IT'LL BE OK". PERSONALLY, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A LOW OIL KNOCK "BE OKAY" UNLESS SERIOUS ENGINE WORK OR A REBUILD WAS PERFORMED

I DID NOT WATCH ALL OF THE VIDEOS, SO I CANNOT TRULY SAY THERE IS NOT SOME MIRACLE YOU CAN TRY. NORMALLY WHEN METAL INSIDE THE ENGINE IS DAMAGED. THERE IS NO GOING BACK

. GOOD LUCK!

PLEASE DO, LET US KNOW YOUR FATE
