MOST OWNERS MANUALS INSIST ON CHECKING YOUR OIL LEVEL AT MINIMUM, ONCE A WEEK. NOT FRED, DOWN AT THE SUPER LUBE, DOING IT ONE TIME, ONLY DURING AN OIL CHANGE
EVEN DURING THE COURSE OF A WEEKS TIME---EVIL THINGS COULD HAPPEN TO YOUR CAR---LIKE A ROCK DAMAGING YOUR OIL PAN--OR EVEN THE OIL PUMP STOPS WORKING SUDDENLY
THIS PROCEDURE IS A REALLY SCALED DOWN VERSION OF "WHY IS THE PILOT WALKING AROUND AND DOING ALL OF THOSE PESKY TIME CONSUMING CHECKS ON THE AIRPLANE?"--"SURELY THE AIRPLANE MECHANICS TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING. THIS IS GONNA MAKE ME BE LATE GETTING TO ATLANTA!"
IF THE GAUGE SHOWS LOW--OR THE IDIOT LIGHT BLINKS AND/ OR STAYS ON, YOU BEST SHUT IT OFF IMMEDIATELY. NOT AFTER YOU DRIVE IT JUST A LITTLE LONGER
IF YOU SEARCH "ROD KNOCK" ON YOU TUBE YOU WILL FIND VIDEOS RANGING FROM "TOASTED" TO "MAYBE IT'LL BE OK". PERSONALLY, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A LOW OIL KNOCK "BE OKAY" UNLESS SERIOUS ENGINE WORK OR A REBUILD WAS PERFORMED
I DID NOT WATCH ALL OF THE VIDEOS, SO I CANNOT TRULY SAY THERE IS NOT SOME MIRACLE YOU CAN TRY. NORMALLY WHEN METAL INSIDE THE ENGINE IS DAMAGED. THERE IS NO GOING BACK
. GOOD LUCK!
PLEASE DO, LET US KNOW YOUR FATE
