The speedometer will stop working and the abs lights will come on why? This happens off and on?

This sounds like a classic vehicle speed sensor that has gone out. Here is a diagram below of the sensor location.

You may need to lift the car to replace it, here is a guide so you do it safely.

The sensor looks like this (below) and it is located near the passengers side CV axle where is comes out of the transmission

Please let us know what happens so it will help others.

Cheers, Ken

Omg what a mess. Well first thing first, you need a good scanner and go from there, but to me it sounds like a abs control module is going bad due to wires being exsposed to water, where I dont no im just tring to help.

Computer problem
2006 Ford Freestyle 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 60000 miles

Upon replacing Left Front wheel bearing, ABS light on. Will the computer reset itself and turn this light off. I think the speed sensors are clean.

No, the system resets every time the ignition is turned off. There is a hard failure in that sensor so something must have been damaged or misaligned in the process.
