Makes noise as if it was a manual transmission

I have a 2006 freestar as I accelerate the engine seems to force. Can this be a problem with the transmission? sounds like as if it is a manual transmission vehicle the engine seems to force as I accelerate. I was going 100km /hour and rpm were at 2000?

Sounds like it may be slipping is the oil smelly and dark in colour? get this checked asap.

I verified the oil and there is no odour and it is dark red. I changed the oil less than 3 years ago

transmission oil should be bright red if dark it is dirty and the trans maybe starting to slip, i would still get this checked out just to be sure.
