I recently had the check engine light pop up. I had it tested and it came back with code P2004. We cleared the code a few minutes ago and I haven't driven it since clearing it. If it comes back on with code P2004, can you give me a diagram of where to look to check the connections? I've read that the issue has to do with the IMRC, but that's something I'm not familiar with.

Hi,

The code is related to the IMRC which stands for intake manifold runner control. The purpose of the component is to improve engine airflow through the intake manifold and into the engine. Thus, it improves performance and efficiency.

The code you have indicates either one of the signal circuits is shorted (power, ground, return signal), the part itself is bad, or there is a lack of vacuum to it.

If the code does return, first check the connector and wiring for damage, corrosion, and to ensure it is tight. Additionally, there will be (I believe) two vacuum hoses to it. Make sure they are in good condition and not disconnected.

I attached a pic below so you can see the approximate location of the IMRC. If the code returns and you have questions, let me know.

Take care,

Joe
