I have a 2006 Ford Focus. The windshield wiper linkage (under the cowl between the hood and windshield) fell apart while driving in the snow... the joint consists of a metal nipple that snaps into a plastic cup with a rubber grommet/washer between the two. It snaps together but falls apart again as soon as the wipers are turned on. How do you keep it together?

The plastic bushing is worn out. I am also trying to replace the bushing - no luck yet. I did drill a hole through the bushing and forced it onto the ball. This has worked for 4 days in Seattle rain so far.
