when the brakes are applied fast the engine will die and the idle is ruff, went to Autozone and had a machine put on the truck and they told me that I needed a new idle air control motor. Do not know if they are correct or not.

The idle air control valve is responsible for maintaining engine idle. However, the brakes have nothing to do with it. Have you checked for vacuum leaks to the power brake booster?
