Should I get the left outer cv boot replaced, they said it is slinging grease they said to replace half shaft

Of course. That boot also keeps dirt and water out. New cv joints typically cost a real lot more than an entire rebuilt half shaft. They often last the life of the vehicle, . . . unless you ignore a torn or split boot.
