Hello I am working on a dodge caravan with the 2.4 engine. When replacing the harmonic balancer what is the best way to prevent the crankshaft from rotating while the center bolt that holds the balancer is torqued to specification? There is no inspection cover to access the flywheel on this automatic equipped vehicle. I do have a impact wrench. Thank you for your help.

The flywheel is your only option if you don't have an impact gun. If there is no inspection plate to remove, then you may have to remove the starter to access the flywheel teeth.

Thank you Wrenchtech for your quick response. I do have a impact wrench, I assume the procedure is to dial down the torque on the impact and use my best guess as to the final torque? If I remove the starter I cant think of a good way to lock the flywheel in place. Thanks again.

I wouldn't dial anything down. Unless you have a gun that delivers over 600 ft lbs of torque just take it down and give it a couple of short bursts after it bottoms out.
