2006 Chrysler Sebring Wife Car Making Noise Had Jacked Both Wheels Off Ground

my wife said the car was making a noise i had the car jacked up both wheels off the ground and i put it in drive and every couple minutes the tires would stop and the transmission would make a grinding noise any idea of what this could mean?

It could be that the transmission was trying to shift. However, if the trans has 152K on it, chances are it is going to need rebuilt.
