2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser buttons get hot

2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER

when driving with headlights on, the buttons on the centre console get hot to the touch (hazard light button, rear window demist, etc)

Is this normal or is there a common reason for this

If they are lighted buttons, yes it is normal. The bulbs get hot and transfer the heat onto the buttons.
