I am having no problem what so ever steering. However, there is a roaring/humming sound coming from the steering column and I can feel a vibration in the steering wheel that I haven't felt before. My husband checked the steering fluid and it was a little low and he added some. We had new tires put on within the past few months and have had them rotated and balanced within the past month. I don't always hear the roaring sound. Maybe it should be described as a loud humming.

This type of noise is typically caused by normal under-hood noise being transferred into the passenger compartment. If you can make it act up while the car is standing still, have a helper go under the hood and move things to see what makes the noise better or worse. In particular, look for the high-pressure power steering hose rubbing on the firewall or another part of the body, and look for a collapsed or missing rubber exhaust pipe hanger. A collapsed engine mount can make contact between the two metal parts and transmit noise into the car. Look at the power steering hoses for signs of a broken or loose clamp that is supposed to hold it from vibrating.
