I have a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT w/ V6 It has a gas gauge problem. Before yesterday the gauge always read empty with no movement. I was able to locate a fuel level sensor only and yesterday I dropped the tank and replaced it. Now the gas gauge is reading all over the place and never stays in one position long. Question: Do I need to just buy and replace the complete fuel pump assembly or is there something else that could be wrong here?

First check to see ifyou are getting power to the sender. If it goes all over the place, check your ground to the tank it may be loose. If you ground the hot lead your fuel gauge should go to full. If not you may have a faulty fuel gauge. The fuel tank sender is nnormally replaced as a unit, in other words a pump, sender assembly.
