With an ohm meter at approx. 77 degrees it should have around 2796 ohms and goes down as temp gets hotter 212 degrees should be about 177 ohms. This is for a 5.3 eng or ls series

Your coolant sensor is behind the water pump below the intake manifold.
I attached a picture for you of the location.
