2006 Chevrolet Silverado Chevy engine removal procedure

I just ordered a remanufactured engine for my aforementioned Silverado. Do you have a process that describes engine removal and install? Any recommended manuals for this task? Also, what other components do you recommend replacing during the change?

I don't have an online manual for you. However, prodemand.com is one source. Other than that, you either need a GM shop manual or try to find a good Chilton's manual.

As far as other components, did you purchase a complete engine or a short block?

It is a long block. No electronics, intake, etc.

I have to be honest, I would put new plugs in it, but the sensors from the old engine, (if they were good before) can get expensive. Thus, I would reuse them.

Everything was fine sensor wise. What about knock sensors, PCV valve, etc? Do I have to remove the tranny with the motor or not?

Simple things like the PCV, vacuum hoses, plug wires... I would replace. As far as the trans, no it doesn't need removed. Just support it when you unbolt the engine.
