2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Noticed Today That Brake Lights Only Work Press Down

I noticed today that my brake lights only work if I press the brake down really hard and also that the tail lights only come on when the high beams are on. I had to replace the headlight socket and was wondering if doing so could have affected the tail/brake lights

no it might be brake light switch going bad check the ground for the rear lights also
