2006 Malibu Maxx Engine Pwr Down

2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx LT. My car will shut itself off. The display will read 'Engine Pwr Down'. Then will read 'Engine Disabled'. The car won't start right away after. I have to let it sit for a minute or two. The car then struggles to start. Recently the traction control light has come on when this happens, but didn't in prior occasions.

The computer will store trouble codes to help identify these problems. Your first step is to have the codes retrieved and see where they point you. I suspect you have an issue with the "drive by wire" system.
