Engine misfire?

I have a 06 SS. Just had the transmission rebuilt and they told me the engine is missing out while going down the road. I changed the plugs and wires. It seems to be a issue only when it goes from 8 to 4 cyl. the tach jumps around 500 rpm. Then when sitting at a stop light you can feel it missing. But, not every time. There isn't a check engine light or anything. Any suggestions?
