I have an 06 chevy impala and when running the ac is on normal it makes a ticking noise and it seems to be coming from behind my glove compartment and i'm having problems getting to it, it does not make the noise when I switch to circulate. Also, my car will not heat or defrost when sitting still.

I tried looking behind the glove department and I can see that when the AC is circulating, the air blend door is opening, but when I switch to normal, it's as if the door not closing as it should, it makes the ticking noise

That usually means the actuator is stripped inside and has to be replaced.
