why does my car jerk?

I have a as cobalt automatic. Everytime it goes to change a gear it jerks back really bad and the rpm goes up to 4. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does its bad. What could this be? Thanks

you have internal trans issues. go to a trans shop and have them evaluate it for you.
