I came back yesterday and tried to report that I'd already figured out what the problem was but couldn't figure out where or who to let know. The battery had "crashed" and a new battery fixed the problem. I appreciate your answer, but the problem is already fixed. I'd like to know what I need to do to get credited for the donation this time.

have the codes scaned, autozone will do this for free, I would say the crank sensors are at fault, its common, have them both replaced, do not replace the tps

No good is general, and would need some testing to confirm. Corrosion can be a visual thing, but not always. What electrical wiring are you speaking of?

What are the symptoms leading you to suspect it, does it not crank? If it is a no crank, the signal can be checked at the connector at the front of the rear bank of cylinders. With a test light, check for a power signal on the harness side of the purple wire. If there is a start signal there with the key in start, then it could be a faulty starter. If there is no signal, it could be a fault with the theft system, or park/neutral switch, or circuit.

Hello All,

I have a 2006 Cadillac STS 3.6L RWD. Has just shy of 69,000 miles on it. I've been having similar issues as previously posted in this thread. While driving, the chime goes off, the gauges drop and shoot back up, the radio stays on but the music cuts out, a 'Service AC' MIL goes off, and has stalled twice now. It has a new battery and a new alternator. That did not fix the issue. If I don't start the car for a day or two, the battery is drained.

I read that replacing the positive battery cable might be the issue? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Sergio

I have a 2006 STS. Car shut off yesterday while driving, won't restart. New battery. All lights work. When I push start button It clicks once. Battery voltage goes way down to 8, 9 but shoots back up. Is something draining the battery? Alternator? Starter?

Good morning,

First, I would clean the battery cables really good of all corrosion inside and outside to eliminate a bad connection.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/everything-goes-dead-when-engine-is-cranked

If that is ok, then you need to have the battery charged to 12.6 volts and have it load tested.

Then the charging system needs to be tested to be sure the alternator is working correctly.

Okay. OBDii codes. P1137. P0036.P0102. P0455. P2096. P0420. P0174. P0113. MAF. 02 Sensor. Evac leak. Fuel trim system too lean. Low voltage during power Enrichment. None of these will make my car not start. It is a 4.6 V8. Maybe the low voltage one.

If you cleaned the battery cables, there should be no codes at all as removing a cable clears the codes.

But would any of the codes make my car not start? So, should I hold off on getting a starter? I've never owned a Cadillac before. I'll retry doing the battery cables. And when I pushed the start button it drained the battery lights went dim then back.

Clean the cables real well.

I don't think you need a starter at all. This sounds like you have a bad battery.
