Bad shifter? Is it something I can replace or does it require a dealer mech. I'm mech inclined. The 10a fuse blows as well as a 15a temp fuse to get home. May have gotten wet. Is the shifter something I can replace. The part comes in today.

The answer is "yes". Four nuts and several wire plugins. Not a terribly difficult job. Shifter handle takes force to pull off. Part was about $300 so add another $200+ at dealers. Silly thing is, it's only the solenoid that needs replacement but they make you replace the whole shifter unit. I'm sending a letter to Caddy advising them how silly and what may cause me (as well as others already) to go foreign next time as much as I hate to.
