I switched the speedometer and incorrrect miles come up

I had a speedmeter with 165k on it i recently purchased a new speedometer with less miles. When i switched the speedometer it originally showed me the 103k the speedometer had but once powering on the vehicle it shot back upp to the 165k my question becomes how can i have the mileage adjusted back to the 103k?

so if i switch the ecu to the same one the speedometer has will i be all set i rececently switched the engone so would like to follow the miles accordingly

It seems that the original speedo was fine.
