2006 Acura TL Power steering pump bad

I installed a power steering pump on the car.Changed o rings and did everything as supposed to. Worked for about an hour and then all of a sudden got hard.
The only thing I can think of is that I put regular power steering fluid instead of Honda. Could this be true.
Could this have damage the rack as well

That was a serious mistake and could have destroyed your entire system now. They don't require that fluid just because they want t sell fluid. It is mandatory.

Would a flush and pump replacement save the rack or is it too late?

It may or may not but at this point it's about your only option. I know that fluid is expensive but flush it real good. Other fluids are harmful to the system. They may even hassle you about the warranty on that pump.
