I installed a power steering pump on the car. Changed o rings and did everything as supposed to. Worked for about an hour and then all of a sudden got hard.
The only thing I can think of is that I put regular power steering fluid instead of Honda. Could this be true.
Could this have damage the rack as well

That was a serious mistake and could have destroyed your entire system now. They don't require that fluid just because they want t sell fluid. It is mandatory.

Would a flush and pump replacement save the rack or is it too late?

It may or may not but at this point it's about your only option. I know that fluid is expensive but flush it real good. Other fluids are harmful to the system. They may even hassle you about the warranty on that pump.

Thank for all your help. Luckily I was able to replace the pump and save the rack. It is as if nothing happened. Thanks again
