There are two 13mm bolts that are facing the passenger side of the vehicle that have to come out. Sometimes to properly get the alternator out of the vehicle you will have to remove the engine mount and jack up the engine a bit.

I have a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8T. I just had the battery and alternator replaced and the car ran great for a few days, now the car has died and won't turnover at all. Is there any other issues that could be affecting it?

I would get a current draw test done on the electrical system, this will help identify any system that is drawing excessive current with the ignition off, if you have a multi meter and know how to read it, I can walk you through it process.
