2005 VW Jetta GLI automatic w/tiptronic. Car seems to bind (stick) going in between gears and wont release to shift into the next gear until the gas pedal is release. It releases from 1st-2nd fine but will bind going from 3rd-4th and 4th-5th.

Have you checked transmission oil level, if it looks dirty change the oil first.

Havent checked. I recently had a 100k service completed. I'm wondering if it is a sensor causing this problem. It seems to happen when the engine temp is up to 190.

You can get a transmission scan done, this will show any electrical problem that needs attention.

spoke with a mechanic who ran the test, checked all codes and oil. No problems found. He determined it was possibly a $3000 valve body issue and to have a local trans mechanic check it out.
