On my way home from FLA. And stopped to fuel up. Started the car and the a/c stopped working.
ran into a walmart to see if it needed Freon. Freon was good. Went to a shop to have the compressor replaced. Drove away from the place and the AC stopped working. Found that the relief valve may have popped. I'm thinking there may be a blockage. Do you know if there is a screen filter on the high side that I can check to see if the old compressor was dropping metal filings. Also was considering ordering the parts online ($800)
and fixing it myself. New compressor, condenser, dryer, expansion valves (front and back). Not sure about replacing the evaporators. Would you have any links showing replacement of these parts.

Replacing components without any proper diagnostics can be wasteful and in the end you problem might still not be solved if it is an electrical problem instead of mechanical.

Go to Climate control at above link and you should be able to get a good idea how to go about replacing the parts mentioned.
