2005 Toyota 4runner Getting Quote 410 Replace Repair 3 Corroded Heat Shields

Getting quote of $410 to replace and repair all 3 corroded heat shields, is this reasonable? Said they have to remove exhaust to access? Thinking of asking a friend who works on cars on the side try to fix, would car be drive able without shields until repaired?

Chances are they are making noise if they are loose, That price sounds high. If you have someone to do it for cheaper, I would go that route. As far as safety, you need to check and make sure there is nothing that can burn near where the shields are located. Also, you would need to stay out of high grass. The converter can catch it on fire.
