Car alarm won't disable

How do I turn off the car alarm?

It was cold in the morning and my car remote didn't work when I tried to unlock my car. I had to go so I opened the door manually with the key and the car alarm went off. I tried turning it off like it said in the manual but it didn't shut off. When I tried to start the engine it wouldn't turn on.

I thought the car remote battery was dead so I replaced the batteries and the remote worked fine. But when I unlocked and opened the door the car alarm went off again. I don't know how to shut it off. My car is stranded until I fix the car alarm. Does anyone know how to disable the alarm? Its embarrassing to try to fix the problem on my own, because my car is in a quiet neighborhood.

The alarm should be disarmed when key is used to unlock the doors.
Try unlocking the passenger or trunk to see if the alarm is disabled.

I tried doing a bunch of combinations of unlocking and opening different doors, but the alarm won't disable. The blinking light on the drivers side door indicates that the alarm is still armed.

Seems the alarm control unit has a fault and is not disarming.
You would have to try programming the fob, which requires appropriate scan tools.

Unplug the control module and check for presence of water or other contaminations. Unplug it and check the wiring connectors for loose or bad contacts.
