While driving the car I released the clutch, heard a thud and then lost acceleration. The car was still running but with no engine power. Not sure if its the slave cylinder, throw out bearing or something else entirely.

Hello,

It sounds like the clutch is disconnected, probably due to a bad slave cylinder.
It is possible that it got seized at the extended position and that is why you are unable to move the vehicle.
You could also have a broken component.

In any case it will require you to access the clutch to see which part has failed.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
