My 05 Subaru WRX STI recently developed engine knock. I believe it is due to a spun bearing. What would the approximate worst case/best case scenario for getting this fixed? Any idea on worst/best case cost for this? Would it be cheaper just to buy a new OEM assembled shortblock from Subaru?

I don't think there is any solution for that motor at this point. When a bearing spins, it damages both the crankshaft and connecting rod and if it was a main bearing, the block also. Another motor is usually the logical way to go.
