I have a Smart Forfour, the battery has been flat, changed the battery and absolutely no electricity whatsoever (no clock on dashboard etc), think new one was duff - but when I put the old one back in although the clock shows etc I can't jumpstart it with leads - any ideas?

Understand the meter reading from battery -but where do I test after that? Could it be an issue with the alternator?

Suspect battey cable or connection fault. So measuring voltage fron batt terminal to block will test good connection
