I have a 2005 Scion xb. It was being driven down the highway when the temp light came on and the car was pulled over instantly. After it cooled, it started and drove right up on a trailer. After changing the water pump te car starts and runs fo a few seconds the shuts down again. Does something need rebooting on the computer?

It shouldn't. Check to see if you are losing spark or fuel pressure when it dies. One has to be missing for it to shut down. From there, focus on that component or system.
