Will I need a repair shop to check this or can I troubleshoot this myself?

have a helper watch as you put it in drive. and reverse, watch how much the engine moves. Excess movement and you have a mount problem.

Under the center console would be where the drive line for the all wheel drive drive shaft run's to the rear diff so i would be taking a close look at that and the carrier bearing that support's it.But that only kick's in when there is wheel slippage sensed it's not a all time all wheel drive.
