if they are both 4 cylinder engines then the size may be different you didn't put what size it is. if you are thinking of replacing the one with theother make sure to match everything up except for dress like alternator, etc and use your current ones.

The 2005 92x linear comes stock with a Subaru Impreza 2.5L non turbo engine so Im just curious if a 2005 and 2008 impreza engine are the same. Im able to find a newer, low mileage engine then the mechanic and want to have as much info as possible to know Im not being ripped off.
Thanks

you would be better off going on the web and finding most of theinfo you can about that. There are a few 4 cylinder engines for 2008 depending on whether or not the model of the CAR is a 9.3 or 9.5 etc, Not the model of the engine. we do not list a impreza engine as we deal with repairs mostly. Like i said you 'll have to match things up like measure mounting bolts, etc then use the stuff on the 2005 on the 2008 engine which would inclufde the computer.

ok after looking further , the 9.5 has a 2.5L engine in it, butit is dual overhead cam and our s is single overhead. the 2008 also may include cam fazers which yours may not have and your computer would not be able to handle teh dual fazers as it's not set up to operate them. why not just rebuild yours. Even if teh block has a hole in one of the cylinders you can sleeve the cylinder and it's like a new engine. Either that or see if GM parts direct carries that engine an dyou can get that . It would be the same motor with no dress items, alternator, etc. PLus it's brand new....
