Hi there. Having an issue with my 2005 Pontiac wave just had the engine changed and now the engine light keeps flashing car runs fine and light will not come on until it is being driven. Start the car and let it idle as long as you want and light will not illuminate until it drives down the road a few kms. Had changed plugs coil wires and egr. Car runs perfect not skipping or idling rough. The engine that was put in was out of a 06 Chevrolet aveo identical engines minus a few parts swapped out. If you have any answers for this would be great thanks.

It's telling you that the engine is misfiring badly enough to damage the Catalytic Converter. You can have the codes read and that should indicate which cylinder and then you have to determine the cause whether it be spark, fuel or compression.

The code that comes up is a po300. I have had the plugs wires and coil swapped from the old engine they were like new, and also the egr valve the engine is running perfect and will not illuminate the light until it is being driven a few kms it will idle forever with no light only until it is driven. Thanks again

No, the engine is not running perfect. It has a severe misfire and the cause of that has to be found.

I know it isn't running perfect. When I say that I mean the engine isn't shaking idling rough spitting sputtering at idle or at cruising speeds. So for something that has a severe misfire it is very unnoticeable while running the engine. Thanks again

The code P0300 is a random misfire code, it can be triggered by a number of components. From an ignition control module to engine sensor.

I have attached the trouble shooting steps below. Following this should help pinpoint the issue.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
