2005 Pontiac Vibe Would Remove Rear Differential Completely Just Front Drive

I would like to remove rear differential completely and be just front drive. Has any one done this , cause it is expensive to replace. I know there would be some changes to make with transfer case ' axels etc.

it would be easier and much cheaper, much cheaper to replace the rear unit with a used unit.
