I need more detail then that?Have you had the car scanned for codes yet?

Not as of yet on the scan however we were told there was a sensor that would need replacement that meant tank would need to be dropped?

Yes if you did have a bad fuel sending unit then yes you would have to drop the gas tank to replace it.First thing i would do is get the car scanned for codes.If you have any codes then let me know the exact code numbers not code descriptions.Also you need a multimeter to test the fuel sending unit.So what is the gas gauge doing?
