2005 grand prix, 118,000 speedometer stop working (40mph shows 70mph)also temp gauge hand now moves up/down to half way mark on gauge, not overheating (yet)..

Sounds like a possible faulty instrument panel cluster, very common problem with GM's clusters, would have to be replaced or sent out for repair or replaced.

Thank you but I found out today my display had been changed from ENGLISH TO METRIC NOW WORKING. However, my temp. gauge hand still rises and I have coolant in reservior and so far not running hot. Is this sign of thermostat stuck or bad...

Glad you figured that out, Now I am confused about the temp gauge, so does the needle go above the half way mark? Once the car warms up the needle should settle near the half way point which would be normal operating temp.
