2005 Opel Corsa Suspect That Engine Overheating Temperature Guage Does Alighn

I suspect that my engine is overheating. The temperature guage does not alighn with the red line though. It goes up to three quarter and then the fan goes on. is this normal ? if not what is the potetial cause of the problem.

If the fan comes on and cools the engine back to normal, it is fine.
