Can the rack be extended to unscrew the tierod?
Will it cause any distortion in the rack by being turned all the way out so I can get a wrench on it?
Does it have to be heated to take it off?
Is lock tite needed when replacing it?

you shouldn't have to have the rack extended to remove a tie rod. if you center it both tie rods shold come off with ease. there are flats on tie rod as well as rack rod to remove them an dno you don't need locktite because tha is what the locking nut is for on rack rod.
