Power steering fluid leaks from both sides at steering gear. Independent mechanic looked underneath car, says steering gear must be replaced, total cost $360. But there is no observable abnormality when steering. Am I being ripped off? Could it be hoses only? Seals?

Just because its leaking doesn't mean you will feel abnormal steering.I can't see where its leaking to tell you if its really leaking there. If you don't trust him get another diagnoses from someone else. What's your zip code and I can tell you what a fair price to fix it would be.
