Why won't my car shift gears?

I have a 2005 mitsubishi lancer, manual transmission. When the car is on it won't shift into gear, when it's off it shifts fine. Also when the car is on and the clutch is fully pressed in the car tries to inch forward like it's in gear. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Sounds like the clutch assembly needs replacing
