should I be concerned with the mini that I bought that had the harmonic balancer replaced a few thousand miles ago?

??? You should be concerned if a defective part WASN'T replaced. Failure of the glue joint in the harmonic balancer is common on any brand of car. Auto parts stores have huge catalogs with hundreds of replacements for all kinds of cars and trucks.
