turn on the headlights it stalls the engine?

When the engine is running and you turn on the headlights it stalls the engine unless you unplug the drivers side headlight then it will stay running?

check for a bad bulb or as short in wiring there.

Yep, you have a shorted bulb or bulb socket. I would remove the bulb assembly and look for burn marks. Here is a video to show you how.
