My 2005 Mercury Mariner will not start. When I turn the key the engine will free spin but will not turn the motor over. What can I look for to solve this? I can turn the key and all my lights and radio work but it will not turn over. The engine is free spinning, all belts are moving.

When you say "free spinning" do you mean it sounds like it is turning faster than normal with no compression? If not, and it sounds normal, check to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine.

It sounds like a broken timing belt.
