Before taking off the rocker arm and lifter, did you check the valve clearance?
Is noise from upper or lower portion of engine?
Does it intensifies with accceleration?

Look out for abnormal wear on the cam lobes and valve shims.
Is there excessive accumulation of sludge within cylinder head?
