Just recently on my 2005 Mazda 6 manual transmission. Basically seems as if vehicle is stuck in second gear. The clutch seems to function as it should (at least as how it feels). Able to depress and release clutch without and problem or noise. Its just as if the stick shift is stuck all the sudden. Pressing the clutch in makes no difference, and feels as if I would have to force the stick shift to the point of braking it more. My goal is to understand what is causing me to not be able to change gears, given the clutch moves fine and no different than before the issue. Not claiming that there is nothing wrong with that, just something I cant notice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I use this vehicle to transport my one year old son. And safety is a priority for me.
Thank you in advance. Great fully appreciated.

If you can move the shifter in and out of each gear with and without the engine running then I would suspect the cables that transmit movement to the shifter fork on the transmission.
You might be able to check the cables (2) at the transmission shift fork to see if any of them have disconnected causing the shifter to sieze in place.
This problem is usually on the transmission side but could also be on shifter side of the shifter cables.

If you can shift gears with the engine off then I would suspect the clutch is not fully releasing with the clutch pedal depressed.
